When they finally come together for good on the fateful L platform where Lucy saved his brother, it’s the magic and warmth of the holidays that made it possible. Lucy and Jack kiss awkwardly under the mistletoe, have an even more awkward New Year’s Eve, and hold each other as they slip awkwardly on the ice. Now things get even crazier, as she finds herself falling in love with Peter, yet still not sure about her feelings for Jack.Over the course of one romantic Chicago winter, Lucy is instantly embraced by the Callaghans, invited to their Christmas celebration where a present is already waiting for her - one she clutches to her heart rather than opening right away, as the giving is the gift for someone used to being on her own. One thing leads to the next, until Lucy meets Jack, Peter’s brother. Through a series of almost believable misunderstandings, everyone is soon convinced that Lucy is Peter’s fiancee. Sandra Bullock plays Lucy, a shy little waif working in a Chicago subway toll-booth. While You Were Sleeping is a beautifully crafted love story with just a few bad words and practically no mention of sex. However, if you are tiring of unbelievable coincidences, characters with no intelligence, and a script as predictable as a train schedule, there’s relief in sight. ![]() There usually is nothing like a good love story to be found on the shelves of your local video store.
